This is a holiday where the car stays parked. Step out of the building, through the gated garden and past the pool, and your toes are in the sand. There's no road between the building and the beach.
The apartment sits on the third floor at the quiet western end of Fuengirola, just below the Moorish Sohail Castle. It has been completely renovated with a modern open-plan kitchen, a calm living room in soft linen tones and a stylish walk-in shower. The balcony seats four for breakfast, long lunches or a glass of wine while the sun sets over the sea.
It isn't the biggest apartment on the coast, but it's beautifully done and easy to live in, and the location is hard to beat.

On the west side of Fuengirola, the balcony catches the warm afternoon and evening sun. It's perfect for sundowners after a day at the beach.

Fuengirola's 10th-century castle sits on the hill just along the beach. It's a lovely walk, and in summer it hosts open-air concerts.

Fuengirola's sandy beaches run for around 8 km, from Sohail Castle in the west to Carvajal in the east, all joined by the Paseo Marítimo. The apartment is at the castle end. It's calmer than the centre but still within walking distance of everything.
Seven beaches along the bay, with sun loungers and parasols for hire in season, water sports and lifeguards. Several have Blue Flag status.
Grilled sardines on a cane skewer, fried fish platters and cold drinks at the chiringuitos, then back to the balcony for the last of the sun.
Fashion stores, a big supermarket, cafés and a 12-screen cinema that shows films in their original language. There's also a kids' club for rainy days.
Walk up for views over the river mouth, the beach and the town. In summer the grounds host open-air concerts and a medieval fair.
Fuengirola's acclaimed zoo is a hit with families. The marina offers boat trips and dolphin-watching tours.
The train runs along the coast to Benalmádena, Torremolinos and Málaga. Mijas Pueblo and Marbella are a short drive away.
The apartment is available during the school holidays: Christmas and New Year, Easter, and the whole summer, with a few extra days before and after. The rest of the year it's booked.
